

The Barbell Clinic is a 120-minute private session that’s designed to provide you with in-depth instruction on the proper techniques and performance of the basic barbell lifts that form the basis of an effective strength training program.

During the session, we’ll cover everything you need to know: determining the appropriate rack height, how to warm up, how to perform the lifts efficiently, safety tips, and how to organise the basic barbell lifts into an effective training program that will get you stronger. We’ll also discuss recovery strategies to reach your goals.

Whether you’ve just started training and want to learn the basics of barbell training, or you’re an experienced lifter looking to refine your technique, working with a Starting Strength Coach will optimise your time in the gym. What happens after I sign up?
On the day of the session, your coach will be there to welcome you upon arrival at your scheduled time. Please be punctual and be ready to train at the start of your scheduled time slot.
I’ve been sedentary all my life. I'm worried that I am not strong enough to do the barbell lifts.
What is included?
Depending on the pace of the session, we may or may not be able to go through all lifts – we always make sure that you’re able to consistently perform a lift proficiently before moving on to the next lift.
Do you conduct Barbell Clinics for groups bigger than two?

What do I need to wear/bring?
If you’ve already been training before joining us, do bring along all the gear that you usually use while training e.g belt, sleeves, wraps etc. Please bring along a hand towel to wipe down the equipment before and after use.
